Nautilus Delivers Keynote Presentation at UK Offshore Wind

Offshore Wind supply chain and skills opportunities were given top billing this week at the Crown Estate’s UK Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference at Birmingham NEC.

Johnathan Reynolds, Director at Nautilus and Business Development Manager for OrbisEnergy, delivered a keynote presentation introducing ‘Offshore Wind England’ a new national consortium of regional energy organisations, and a focus of supply chain development in the offshore wind industry.

He joined a line-up of top speakers from UK Government, The Crown Estate and turbine suppliers Siemens and Areva to outline the huge economic benefits of offshore wind to the UK and how companies can seize new opportunities for growth.

Annette Thomas of Nautilus went on to deliver a presentation on our recent ‘A Blueprint for Energy Skills Development’ report for Skills for Energy, EEEGR and The Department of Energy and Climate Change.

The report details a strategy and development plan for energy skills development across the UK regions, and has utilised industry knowledge, market research and discussions with current skills suppliers, government bodies and industry employers in its production.

Recommendations resulting from the research included the development of a flexible approach to employer engagement and leadership on skills for the energy sector and a higher focus on the STEM skills that are currently undeveloped throughout the UK. The report will be publicly available later this month.
