UK: Hampshire Offshore Wind Boosts Marine Sector Companies Business

The UK Government’s investment in offshore wind industry gives a chance for marine sector companies to take advantage of the opportunities that the industry provides.

Millions of pounds being invested in new offshore wind farms that need servicing and maintenance give the Hampshire-based marine sector companies the opportunity to boost their business, the Andover Advertiser informs.

Over 40 exhibitors at this year’s Seawork have been from the Hampshire area. Organiser of the Seawork exhibition at Southampton, Andrew Webster, said that one of the biggest changes stimulating the business is marine renewables adding that this will last for the next 5 – 10 years.

He pointed out that Hampshire is well placed to grow business in maintenance component of the industry.

Companies like the boat manufacturer South Boats, naval architecture and design firm BMT Nigel Gee Ltd and those supplying equipment for the crew of the boats, such as Harken Industrial, have all taken the advantage of this opportunity to significantly increase their profit by turning the business to offshore renewables.
