PowerWind Sells 10 Wind Turbines to Bulgaria

The German manufacturer is thus strengthening its position in the Bulgarian community segment with project sizes of up to 10 MW. The turbines of the type PowerWind 56 with a rated power output each of 900 kilowatt will be installed by the end of 2011 at various locations on the Black Sea (Hadji Dimitar, Poruchik Chunchevo) and further inland (Stara Kresna, Stara Zagora).

Five of the turbines are for the experienced Bulgarian project developer MTK Group, three for the company Ruah ODD and two for Trakia Ecoenergia Ltd..

The contracts are the result of PowerWind’s alignment to the special requirements of community scale clients. In addition to products of high technological quality, organizational and financial consulting during the project development process as well as customized service solutions are of particular interest for this group of customers. “PowerWind gave us important support in financing and approval issues,” says Rosen Illiev, the managing director of MTK. “The Power-Wind 56 is the ideal product for our logistically and climatically challenging site at 1500 m above sea level,” emphasizes Nasko Stoyanov, the managing director of the project developer Trakia Ecoenergia. “PowerWind offered us specific protection of the blades against ice formation.”

The first PowerWind turbine in Bulgaria has been in operation at Hadji Dimitar since December 2009. As a result of the cooperation with the experienced Bulgarian service company ABC Windfarm Ltd., the German manufacturer can offer all Bulgarian customers rapid and highquality service.

For individual turbine projects with the PowerWind 56, no environmental reports and applications for production licenses would be necessary at many sites, even after the planned amendments to legislation by the Bulgarian government. PowerWind is already in discussions with regard to further supply contracts.
