Moffatt & Nichol Hires Renewable Energy Expert

Moffatt & Nichol has hired Daniel K. Dolan, PE, a principal engineer with over 30 years of experience in the design and analysis of marine structures.

Dolan’s particular area of expertise focuses on the assessment of existing marine structures and the development of innovative concepts for the construction of structures in challenging marine sites. Dolan has participated in the design, certification and assessment of hundreds of marine facilities worldwide.

Dolan has spent the last 13 years of his career in the renewable energy sector. He has worked closely with government regulators and national laboratories in the development, research and design of offshore wind systems and has published numerous articles on the subject. In addition to wind energy work, Dolan is the co-inventor of the U.S. patent “Device and Method for an Independent Module Offshore Mobile Base.” The design relies on multiple self-propelled modules that link to form a moveable military warehouse and landing strip. The structure is designed to supply and launch military operations and provide support for disaster relief.

“With Mr. Dolan’s vast industry knowledge, Moffatt & Nichol is well-positioned to assist our clients in meeting the challenges of offshore marine structures,” said Walnut Creek Business Unit Leader Richard Rhoads, PE.
