Ramboll to Design Foundations for 1,440 MW Polish Offshore Wind Projects

Equinor and Polenergia have signed contracts with Denmark-headquartered Ramboll for the design of foundations for the Bałtyk II and offshore wind projects in the Polish Baltic Sea.

Under the contracts, Ramboll will provide engineering services for 100 monopiles for the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects.

Thanks to the signed agreement, we are approaching the moment of making the final investment decision and implementing the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects. Our wind farms, as one of the first in the Baltic Sea, will significantly contribute to increasing Poland’s energy security,” said Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, President of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland.

In February, the developers signed the final contracts with Netherlands-headquartered Sif for the supply of 100 monopiles. The manufacturing is planned to commence in the second quarter of 2025 with completion in 2026.

That same month, Equinor and Polenergia also finalised contracts for the delivery of 100 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD wind turbines.

The construction and launch of our wind farms in the Baltic Sea are fast approaching,” said Jerzy Zań, President of the Management Board of Polenergia SA.

Our offshore projects are some of the largest wind farms being built in this part of Europe. Only the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects will supply over 2 million households with green energy. This means a huge acceleration of the energy transformation, and thus – huge support for the Polish economy.”

Located approximately 22 to 37 kilometres from the coastline near Ustka and  Łeba, the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind farms will have a total capacity of 1,440 MW.

The projects are expected to produce first power as early as 2027 while the commercial stage is planned a year later.

In addition to Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III, Equinor and Polenergia are developing the Bałtyk I project, an offshore wind farm that will have a capacity of up to 1,560 MW.
