DHSS will assist Jan de Nul on this project from its support base in Port of IJmuiden and will be responsible for ships agency services, quayside logistics, local procurement, and husbandry services.

Jan De Nul, as part of the JLC consortium with LS-Cable & System, is responsible for the supply and installation of 210 kilometres of offshore cables for the two projects.

The company is in charge of the transportation, laying, and protection of the cables, while LS-Cable & System is responsible for the supply, termination, and testing of the cables.

The first trials at the beach of Wijk aan Zee for the physical cable pull-in in 2022 have been completed, by using water jetting technology to lower export cables via the customized Sunfish. Another trial will be done, by trenching the cable via another tool called Starfish.

The Hollandse Kust (Noord) and Hollandse Kust (West Alpha) export cable systems will consist of two 220kV AC cable systems each.

These four cable systems will cover a total length of 210 kilometres, connecting the wind farms to the onshore Dutch power grid near Beverwijk, just north of the port of IJmuiden.

When operational, these wind farms will generate up to 1,400 MW.
