The inter-array cables will undergo tests in the coming days, Windpark Fryslân said.

The cables connect the wind farm’s 89 Siemens Gamesa 4.3 MW wind turbines with the wind farm’s own transformer station at Breezanddijk on the artificial island of Breezand.

From there, two cable circuits which run to Bolsward deliver the electricity generated at the wind farm to TenneT’s Frisian high-voltage grid.

The wind farm is being constructed by the Zuiderzeewind consortium of Van Oord and Siemens Gamesa on behalf of Ventolines.

Turbine installation is currently ongoing and the wind farm is expected to be completed by the summer of 2021.

Ventolines is responsible for the project management of Windpark Fryslân during construction and operations.
