The plans were submitted for review to the WA Environmental Protection Authority by WA Offshore Windfarm Pty Ltd, a special purpose company developing the project.

The developer is proposing to build the Western Australia Offshore Windfarm some 5.5 kilometres off the coast between Preston Beach and Binningup, and 20 kilometres north of Bunbury.

The wind farm would feature up to 37 turbines with rated capacity of between 8 MW and 15 MW.

Australis Energy is registered in England and Wales and is said to have ”significant project delivery experience in the UK,”.

Apart from the Western Australian Offshore Windfarm, Australian Energy is also developing the 495 MW VIC wind farm project offshore Victoria, and the 600 MW South Australia offshore wind farm project.
