Vattenfall Cleared to Build Denmark’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm

The Danish Energy Agency has granted an environmental permit for the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm, formally approving Vattenfall’s 605MW project in the Danish Baltic Sea.

Following a period allowed for appeals on the project’s approval and the environmental permit which ends on 2 March, Vattenfall will be able to start the construction of the wind farm.

Expected to be completed by the end of 2021, Kriegers Flak will comprise 72 Siemens Gamesa 8.4MW wind turbines and will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm once commissioned.

Last year, the Danish Energy Agency requested a supplemental Environmental Impact Assessment report for the project from Vattenfall.

Public consultation on the supplemental EIA started in October 2019 and ended in December 2019. The feedback received during that period was taken into account during the decision-making process, the agency said.
