Goldwind has obtained the Type A certificate from DNV GL for its GW154/6.7MW offshore wind turbine.

The certificate comes after Goldwind secured the Wind Turbine Type Approval Certificate issued by the China General Certification Center (CGC) for its new turbine.

According to the Chinese company, with these two certificates in place, GW154/6.7MW became China’s first high-power offshore wind turbine that had obtained both Chinese and international authorized certifications.

Last year, Goldwind installed a prototype of the turbine, which is designed for wind class I areas off the Fujian and Guangdong coast, east of China.

The first blades for the 6.7MW offshore prototype with a length of 75.1m were produced by LM Wind Power in September 2017.

Besides the 6.7MW turbine for high wind conditions, the 6S turbine platform includes the GW164/6.45MW and GW171/6.45M for medium and low wind conditions, respectively.
