Subsea 7 Joins Hollandse Kust Zuid Team

Vattenfall has contracted Seaway 7, part of Subsea 7, for work on the Hollandse Kust Zuid 1&2 offshore wind project in the Netherlands.

Seaway 7 is in charge of the transport and installation of 76 monopile foundations and the laying of the inter-array cables.

The company has also been selected as one of the partners for the Hollandse Kust Zuid 3&4 project. If Vattenfall wins the tender, Seaway 7 would conduct the same work as for Hollandse Kust 3&4.

The integrated offshore installation activities for both projects are planned to take place in 2022 using Seaway 7’s heavy lift and cable lay vessels, subject to the award of Hollandse Kust Zuid 3&4 and pending Vattenfall’s Final Investment Decision.

“We look forward to working collaboratively with Vattenfall as a trusted partner to support the installation of the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farms and help to deliver the first zero-subsidy offshore wind projects in the Netherlands,” said Steph McNeill, SVP Subsea 7 Renewables & Heavy Lifting.

Last year, Vattenfall won the tender to build Hollandse Kust Zuid 1&2, the first non-subsidised wind farm in the Netherlands.

The project will feature 76 Siemens Gamesa 10MW turbines located 22km from the coast. Initial preparations are now underway, with project completion expected in 2023.
