MRE Pounces on CTV Duo

Portland-based Manor Renewable Energy (MRE) Ltd. has purchased two crew transfer vessels (CTVs), the MPI Cervantes and MPI Cardenio, from Offshore Support Vessels BV for an undisclosed sum.

Designed and built by South Boats in 2011 / 2012, the 17-metre vessels will be transported from Teesside to Portland in the coming two weeks, where they will be fully reconditioned, MRE said.

”We have the capability at our Portland facility to build and / or refurb several vessels at a time; when these vessels were put up for sale we immediately saw the potential and once we strip them both down, totally re-engine and increase the overall length by 3 metres, we will basically own two brand new vessels in just over 8 weeks time,” MRE Managing Director Eric Briar said.

In 2017 MRE built the Manor Venture, which is one of the largest CTVs currently operating within the offshore renewables market. The construction of her sister vessel, to be delivered in 2020, will start towards the end of this month.
