The draft RFP is available for comment from offshore wind developers and other stakeholders interested in the upcoming solicitation.

Comments are due by 5 October and will help inform and refine the final RFP to be issued in the fourth quarter of 2018, NYSERDA said.

Awards are expected to be announced in the second quarter of 2019. According to the draft RFP, NYSERDA can award more than 800MW in contracts in this first round of the Phase 1 solicitation if sufficient attractive offers are received, in which case further action by the New York State Public Service Commission would be required to authorize the 2019 procurement.

New York has set a goal of developing 2.4GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030.
