Trump to UK Politicians: “Move Scottish Wind Farms Offshore”

The US President-Elect Donald Trump has reportedly advised UK politician Nigel Farage and his team, with whom Trump met on 13 November, to campaign against onshore wind farms in Scotland, suggesting that they should be moved offshore.

“He thinks Scotland is the most beautiful country in the world,” Andy Wigmore, who was at the meeting, said in a video published by BBC’s Sunday Politics West. “He’s got a bugbear by the way, he doesn’t like wind farms at all.”

Wigmore quotes Donald Trump as saying: “When I look out of my window and I see these windmills, it offends me. Nigel, Arron, Andy, you’ve got to do something about these windmills. Let’s put them offshore, but why spoil the beautiful countryside, why spoil it?!”

“Get them offshore, I don’t want Scotland, the most beautiful country ever to be sullied by these awful windmills,” Trump said, according to Wigmore, as he advised him, Nigel Farage and Arron Banks to campaign against wind farms on land.

Here, it may be appropriate to mention that Donald Trump fought a Scottish offshore wind project, Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm/the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), claiming it would ruin the landscape and the view from his Aberdeen golf resort.
