Kriegers Flak CGS is a joint project between Energinet.dk and 50Hz Transmission to interconnect the Danish and German grid via two offshore wind farms, Denmark’s 600MW Kriegers Flak and Germany’s 288MW Baltic 2.

The two transmission system operators are planning to install an HVAC cable between offshore substations located at the two offshore wind farms. The planned cable route is approximately 25 kilometres long.

The purpose of the survey and the subsequent services is to reduce the risk level at the installation area along the two cable routes to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

The contract winner will be tasked to carry out a geophysical survey, inspection of possible UXO objects, and removal or detonation of identified UXO objects.

The tender remains open until 31 October, 2016.

The Kriegers Flak CGS will connect the Danish region of Sjaelland and German Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The construction is expected to begin in late 2016 or early 2017, and the interconnector is planned to start operating by the end of 2018.
