The seminar, which was held at the University of Tokyo, Japan, on 17th December 2015, was attended by 200 industry professionals.

Business Development Manager, Dominic Stratton presented alongside Hirofumi Takano of ClassNK, providing the audience with key industry intelligence and guidance on how to make an offshore wind project financially viable, SeaRoc reported.

The company was invited by ClassNK to join the lineup of presenters to provide information on their services and the SeaPlanner.

Dominic Stratton said: “We were honoured to be invited to present at this event. We’ve worked closely with ClassNK in recent months, verifying them in publishing guidelines for offshore wind farms in Japan as a basis for project certification. It’s an achievement to be recognised for our vast experience in offshore wind, and we were delighted to be able to share our knowledge and solutions with other professionals who are growing in this sector.”

The Japanese market is going through a period of change as the government, business and consumers shift more towards renewable energy for country’s greater long term energy security – with a particular emphasis on offshore wind. In July 2015, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced renewable energy will account for 22-24% of the total energy supply mix by 2030.
