Oceantec to Aid EVE in Marine Renewables Goals

Ente Vasco de la Energía, Basque Government’s energy agency, has awarded marine renewables contract to Oceantec Energías Marinas.

Derio-based company will supply the floating wave energy converter to EVE.

A total of EUR 2.5 million will be made available for pilot projects demonstrating and validating full scale, or almost full scale, prototypes of wave energy converters, floating wind platforms, and offshore wind turbines.

The contract award goes in line with Basque energy strategy which targets 14% contribution of renewable energy to total energy demand by 2020.

Devices will be tested offshore and within the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, EVE highlighted.
