TenneT Maps Borssele Wires Route

TenneT, the Dutch electricity transmission system operator, has mapped the export cable route for the Borssele offshore wind farm zone.

The cable will come ashore at Borssele, less than a kilometre from TenneT’s existing 380 kV substation.

“This is the outcome of an intensive process, in which all interests are identified and weighted. The Ministries of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure & Environment ultimately determine the final route of the cables,” said the company in a press release.

A draft of environmental impact assessment, which maps the environmental impact of the various routes of the area, was taken into consideration as well as technical feasibility and costs.

The construction of the cable is expected to start in 2018.
