LIoyd’s Register to Verify Kriegers Flak Substations

Energinet.dk has hired LIoyd’s Register for work on Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm.

According to the contract, LIoyd’s Register is to certify offshore platforms which will hold the equipment needed for the connection of the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farms and the equipment needed for the offshore inter-connector Kriegers Flak Combined Grid Solution (CGS) between Denmark and Germany.

The wind farm will have a total capacity of 600MW and will cover an area of 180 square kilometres in the Baltic Sea.

Recently, The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has launched a tendering process for this project with the price per kilowatt-hour as the award criteria for bids.

Energinet.dk is tasked with constructing and operating the technical plants that will bring the electricity from the offshore wind turbines to the main electricity grid on land. The grid connection facility must be ready to transport electricity from the offshore wind turbines on 31 December 2018.
