Fishermen’s Energy Takes Fight to Supreme Court

The USA offshore wind developer, Fishermen’s Energy, will try its luck at the state Supreme Court to save its pilot project.

The company is trying to build a 25MW wind farm comprising five turbines located three miles offshore Atlantic City.

The project has already been rejected twice by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities saying it is too costly. Following the recent ruling by the state appellate court to uphold the BPU’s decision, Fishermen’s Energy has filed papers with the Supreme Court.

The project has already been awarded $47 million from the U.S. Department of Energy under a programme aimed at speeding up the commercialisation of innovative offshore wind technologies in the US.
