Lindø Test Centre for Wind Turbines Inaugurated

Ane Mærsk Mc-Kinney Uggla and Henrik Sass Larsen are speaking at an inauguration of the world’s most realistic indoor testing facility for offshore wind turbines. LORC Nacelle testing centre was inaugurated with a two-day celebration on 10 and 11 September.

On 10 September, nacelle testing specialists gathered at the LORC conference “Advanced Nacelle Testing”.

LORC Nacelle testing center can simulate weather conditions of an offshore wind farm and thus test whether the wind turbine is working as it should, and whether it reacts as anticipated at events such as emergency stop or changing wind directions. The center can also test how a wind turbine works in synergy with the power grid and other turbines in a wind farm.

The test center has been developed in close collaboration with both industry and academia, and is among the world’s largest with a capacity to test nacelles of up to 10 MW.

DONG Energy, Vestas Wind Systems and Siemens Wind Power are represented in the LORC Board and have participated in both the design and construction of LORC Nacelle Testing.
