Isle of Lewis to Host EIMR Conference

The Isle of Lewis is set to cash in around GBP 350,000 from a renewable energy conference.

Isle of Lewis to Host EIMR ConferenceThe Scottish island will host an Environmental Interactions of Marine Renewables (EIMR) conference on Wednesday 30th April and Thursday 1st May.

Organised by the University of the Highlands and Islands, and backed by VisitScotland Conference Bid Fund, the main objective of this event is to bring together people from different disciplines and cultures to encourage collaboration and develop ideas.

“This conference will allow the international research community to exchange experiences and findings from marine energy developments around the globe. It is a great opportunity, not just for the Hebrides, but for Scotland to showcase its expertise in the renewable energies industry,” said Arne Vogler, Senior Research Engineer at UHI’s Lews Castle College and organiser of the conference.

While the main conference event will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, an additional programme will take place throughout the full week from Monday, 28 April to Saturday, 03 May 2014, which will take the form of supplementary special interest sessions, field trips and other activities.
