USA Deepwater Wind Hails Government's Plans to Jumpstart OW Development (2)

Deepwater Wind hailed announcement by New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s administration on its plans to jumpstart development of large offshore wind farms to power downstate New York.

The New York State Department of State published a study demonstrating the feasibility of offshore wind to provide numerous benefits to the region, such as improved air quality, lower wholesale power prices and thousands of good-paying local jobs.

“We congratulate the state of New York for taking this bold and important step to advance offshore wind development,” said Deepwater Wind CEO Jeffery Grybowski. “New York’s offshore wind resource has tremendous potential, and that’s why we’ve invested considerable resources over the last several years in our plan for a utility-scale offshore wind farm to power Long Island with clean, renewable offshore wind energy. Our Deepwater Wind Energy Center, located 30 miles east of Montauk, would be virtually invisible from shore and would deliver affordable and reliable renewable energy for Long Island.”
