The London Array, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, will be inaugurated today, July 4.
The UK Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, Edward Davey, announced his participation in the official opening of the offshore wind farm.
The London Array, jointly owned by Dong Energy, Masdar and EON, comprises 175 Siemens’ 3.6 MW wind turbines. It became fully operational in April and broke Guinness record by becoming the largest wind farm worldwide. It supplies electricity to nearly half a million UK households and reduces more than 900,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
