Donald Trump Responds to Scottish Government’s Approval of EOWDC

Following the decision of the Scottish Government to give consent to the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre’s (EOWDC) development, Donald Trump still stands behind his words to fight the project in courts.

Mr. Trump says that this was a purely political decision and he has vowed to file a lawsuit to stop the project from being built, STV News writes.

A week ago, Donald Trump’s spokesman George Sorial stated that this Aberdeen offshore wind project will never start with construction, regardless of the planning approval. “Irrespective of the pending planning decision from a biased Scottish Government, protracted legal challenges and the simple financial shortfalls of the project will result in its demise,” he said.

“We will spend whatever monies are necessary to see to it that these huge and unsightly industrial wind turbines are never constructed,” STV News quotes Mr. Trump.

“All over the world they are being abandoned, but in Scotland they are being built. We will put our future plans in Aberdeen on hold, as will many others, until this ridiculous proposal is defeated.

“Likewise, we will be bringing a lawsuit within the allocated period of time to stop what will definitely be the destruction of Aberdeen and Scotland itself.”

In February of this year, Mr. Sorial confirmed the intention of Mr. Trump to fight the EOWDC in courts by filing an appeal to any approval, which could result in delaying the project for a decade through legal fights.
