UNEP, EEC to Host Global Round Tables

A series of events, organised by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Energy Centre (EEC) will kick off on Monday in Edinburgh where the first Global Round Tables will be held, writes H&V News.

UNEP and EEC will hold total of 5 events from 11 March to 26 March. These events will be held in Scottish Government Edinburgh, London Guildhall, at the University of Milan and in UN’s offices in Paris and Frankfurt.

The aim of the Round Tables is to foster public-private partnerships for financially viable clean energy applications in developing economies

The ultimate aim of the Round Tables is to identify projects with attractive investment potential, and to match them with available financing. During the Round Tables, project proposals will be presented and discussed by financial, technology and policy experts, led by UNEP and the EEC. The best projects identified will then enter a development phase in the selected locations. UNEP will aim to identify both effective financial and policy de-risking instruments and ample public and private sector funding to scale up the level of investment in clean energy technologies.
