ROVOP Signs Contracts Worth GBP 3.5 Million in January (UK)

Rapidly growing and award winning subsea specialist ROVOP has made a strong start to 2013 after expanding its management team and signing £3.5 million of contracts in January alone.

The company, which provides subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services, has bolstered its management team with the appointment of Moray Melhuish as commercial director, and strengthened its onshore resource by welcoming Mike Duffus as project manager.

ROVOP is taking delivery this week of one of its new work class ROVs. The 150hp Schilling HD can operate at depths of up to 3000 metres and will be displayed at the Subsea 2013 conference before immediate deployment onboard a customer’s specialised flexible lay vessel.

The company’s recent contract wins, across both oil & gas and offshore wind, come on the back of a busy 2012 during which ROVOP supported a variety of operations including an oil & gas pipeline stabilisation project in Norway, jack-up operations, cable lay, survey and dredging in the North Sea.

Managing director Steven Gray said: “This combination of new contract wins and repeat business is testament to the strong track record we have developed in providing ROV support to our customers. Being 100% focused on ROV services has helped establish our reputation among our customer base for reliability, consistency and service.

“We experienced strong growth throughout 2012 and anticipate a busy year ahead. To ensure we continue to meet the demands and expectations of our customers it was important to build our team and the appointment of Moray and Mike will do just that. Both are hugely experienced and will bring the knowledge and drive that will keep ROVOP at the forefront of our sector.”

Mr Melhuish takes up his role following two years as sales manager with Subsea 7. Prior to his appointment he held senior positions within subsea equipment and services group Forum Energy Technologies and service specialist Score Group plc.

Joining ROVOP from Bibby Remote Intervention, Mr Duffus brings with him over 30 years of subsea service experience.  Commencing his career in 1975 as a diver, Mr Duffus became an ROV pilot technician in 1989 before becoming project manager with Neptune Marine Services and Hallin Marine.

Mr Melhuish said: “I am joining ROVOP at an exciting time. The company has seen its investment in the best subsea equipment and most experienced offshore personnel rewarded with these contract awards. The track record and reputation for performance of the company is impressive, and I am immensely proud to become part of the team.”

Headquartered in Westhill, Aberdeen, a global centre of excellence in subsea engineering, ROVOP has benefitted from investment and support provided by the Scottish Loan Fund, RBS and Scottish Enterprise which has enabled it to focus on sustainable international growth built on quality personnel, equipment and systems.
