UK: Green Drinks for Humber Renewables Industry

PROGRESS in the Humber area’s renewables industry over the last year is being reviewed at an informal networking event.

The Christmas Green Drinks meeting will take stock of developments across the low-carbon sector during the past 12 months and also look ahead to 2013.

Renewables Network and Footprint Renewables are staging the event on Thursday, December 20 at the Holiday Inn, Hull Marina.

The session, between 4pm and 6pm, is free to attend for network members.

Green Drinks is a regular, informal, series which allows people interested, or working, in the renewables industry to network and hear updates on the sector.

The latest event is sponsored by change management organisation Agencia.

Based in East Yorkshire, the business offers a range of services across the public, private and third sectors, including market research, public consultation, people development and process planning.

Victoria Austin, business development manager at Agencia, and who is speaking at Green Drinks, said: “An event like Green Drinks provides an ideal opportunity for businesses with a like-minded focus to build partnerships and we are proud to be supporting it.”

Agencia, which was established in 1997, has now begun work in the Humber’s renewables sector, which is emerging as a key feature of the region’s future industrial landscape.

Victoria said: “The renewables industry and wider green economy is a huge opportunity to build business and improve business efficiency and savings nationwide and particularly around the Humber area.

“During recent months, Agencia has worked increasingly closely with the renewables industry.

“This has included bringing our wealth of experience of running public consultation to bear on the facilitation of a consultation event at the Freedom Centre in Hull.

“It proved successful in gathering the views of the community on green energy.”

Other confirmed speakers at the December 20 event include Andrew Morton from specialist marketing company Footprint Renewables and John Britton and Sam Pick of the Renewables Network – a private sector group that helps companies enter the green sector.

Sam, a director of the network, said: “It has been an extremely positive year for renewables in the Humber area.

“Green Port Hull has progressed through its planning phases and we await a final investment decision from Siemens.

“The new Energy Bill has also been proposed by government and was favourably received.

“And, across the region, our member companies have won work in the sector – from major offshore wind projects through to an array of exciting micro generation developments.

“The Green Drinks event will take stock of what has happened and review the potential and opportunity for the next year.”

Attendance at Green Drinks is free of charge to Renewables Network members and Footprint Renewables customers. Non-members will be charged £10 + VAT.

Drinks and a light buffet are provided at the event, taking place at the Holiday Inn Hull Marina, Castle Street in Hull.

Spaces are limited and registration is required for all those wanting to attend Green Drinks, including members.
