RenewableUK 2012 Conference & Exhibition Kicks Off

RenewableUK 34th annual conference and exhibition opened its door yesterday to more than 150 of the industry’s key players who will speak at the conference and nearly 300 exhibitors involved in the UK’s wind, wave and tidal energy sector.

Maria McCaffery, Chief Executive of the RenewableUK, welcomed everyone at the opening speech. Announcing some of the participants at the event, she especially welcomed Energy Minister John Hayes.

Furthermore, she said that in these three days great accomplishments of the industry over the last year will be celebrated. “Wind energy alone now provides enough electricity to power over 5 million British homes,” McCaffery pointed out.

Speaking about the importance of renewable energy, she highlighted the significance of political, economical and, most of all, public support. Offshore wind offers enormous opportunity to UK, Ms. McCaffery stressed. Therefore, RenewableUK is strongly involved in supporting and developing processes of offshore wind, particularly those in the North Sea.
