Alstom Eyes UK Offshore Wind Possibilities

Alstom’s offshore wind vice president Frederic Hendrick revealed that the company has plans to expand its presence in the UK’s offshore wind sector.

Reuters quotes Mr. Hendrick as saying that the decision to have “an industrial footprint “ in the UK would depend on acquiring more investment certainty and that it should be made in the next two years.

Alstom is building four wind turbine factories in France, with its massive prototype turbine being tested in Saint Nazaire.

“The main reason we should expand our industrial footprint in the UK is because of our ambition in terms of market share. We need to develop some extra capacity somewhere,” explains Mr. Hendrick.
