Sweden: Vattenfall to Move into New Headquarters

Vattenfall to Move into New Headquarters

Vattenfall moves into one of Sweden’s most energy-efficient office buildings at Arenastaden in Solna. The ultra-modern premises will be home to the company’s Stockholm area workforce of just over 2,000, who have up to now worked at three different offices.

Vattenfall’s new headquarters are located just north of Stockholm, and consist of four interconnected buildings 8 to 14 storeys high. Environmental requirements played a large role in the design of the premises, since the climate issue is of central importance to Vattenfall’s operations. The new office buildings will have a lower energy consumption than required by the EU’s ‘GreenBuilding’ classification, for example by using heat and electricity from solar and wind energy.

The offices will be classified at the highest grade, A, in the Bygga-bo-dialogen (Building-Living Dialogue), in which companies, municipalities and government co-operate to achieve a development towards a sustainable building and property sector in Sweden.

The headquarters are neighbours of Friends Arena and the Mall of Scandinavia shopping centre, which is due to open in 2015.

The some 2,000 employees who are moving to Arenastaden have up to now worked at offices in three different locations: Sturegatan, Råcksta and Sundbyberg.
