E.ON UK Responds to Energy and Climate Change Committee's Report

Responding to the publication of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee report, Dr. Tony Cocker, Chief Executive of E.ON UK said:

“These reforms matter but they must be delivered in a way that benefits consumers as well as the companies that want to make significant investments in Britain’s future.

“We remain supportive of the broad direction being taken by the Government and would completely agree with the Committee on the importance of these reforms. It is important to note however, that contrary to the Committee’s view, we believe that the introduction of CFD’s and a Capacity Mechanism will reduce vertical integration and increase competition in both generation and retailing.

“Now is not the time to go back to the drawing board. We all have a part to play in making sure these reforms deliver and it is time for government departments to step up, work together and deliver the clarity and certainty that we all need for investment by striving to keep it simple.”
