France Far Away from 2020 Offshore Wind Target

The French Senate has published a report regarding the costs of electricity production, which shows an estimation made by EDF, according to which France would not be able to meet its 2020 offshore wind capacity targets.

The biggest French renewable energy developer forecasts that the country will be on its way to producing 3,928MW by the start of the next decade and a half of that amount is going to be produced after 2020.

According to Bloomberg´s summary of the report, EDF predicts offshore wind power costs at EUR 1.2 billion in 2020, while the French energy regulator estimates EUR 2.6 billion and energy ministry says they will be at EUR 2.3 billion.
