UK: E.ON Installs Rampion Met Mast

E.ON completes the Rampion meteorological mast after placing an elevation barge on the location, according to Shoreham Herald.

The mast is set to monitor the wind speed, currents and other factors before building of the Rampion wind farm starts. It is placed 13 kilometers off coast between Shoreham and Worthing.

E.ON starts its groundwork right away to ensure the wind farm project begins as planned. Its planning application for the wind farm, which will be located between 13 and 23 kilometers out in the sea from Sussex coast, has not been yet submitted.

Turbines will have a generating capacity of between 3MW and 7MW, with individual maximum height to tip of 180m and 210m, and installed electrical capacity of the farm of up to 700 MW. The site is estimated to generate more than 2,100 GWh of electricity each year and supply around 450,000 homes.
