Siemens to Install Wind Turbines Offshore France

Siemens has been selected as a supplier of wind turbines by the consortium of GDF Suez, Vinci and CDC Infrastructure that are bidding for a €10 billion contract. They are planning to erect a wind farm offshore Saint-Brieuc, reports Les Echos.

If this consortium wins the bid, Siemens plans to build a factory in France for the assembly, installation and commissioning of 83 wind turbines. Siemens is also in talks with French industry partners to manufacture wind turbine towers.

If the consortium wins the bid, consortium could ramp up their French subcontractors and help them expand internationally. They have already met more than 70 companies of the Great West that could work with them.
