Great Yarmouth’s Population to Grow for Offshore Wind Industry (UK)

Great Yarmouth could see increase in its population of up to 120,000.

This increase would be the prospect of East Anglia Array offshore wind farm construction.

Barry Stone, from Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said that increasing the number of houses would be the best way to attract businesses to the town and the area, reports BBC.

ScottishPower Renewables and Vattenfall Wind Power have been awarded development rights to Zone 5, which is called East Anglia Offshore Windfarm Zone.

At its nearest point to shore, the wind farm is located 14km off the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk and covers approximately 300km2.

The work is expected to commence in 2015.
