SGS Announces Jale Cairney as Vice President Global Risk Management


SGS Industrial Services, a global service provider for technical verification, inspection, testing and conformity assessment, is pleased to announce Jale Cairney as Vice President Global Risk Management.

In her new position, which commences in January 2011, Jale will be responsible for the development of the Global Risk Management Competence Center in Camberley, England. With nineteen years of experience in the field of Risk Management and Business Development, Jale will provide technical support for SGS affiliates globally in developing SGS Risk Management services, including Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) and Technical Risk Analysis (TRA). She will help SGS clients to effectively manage their risks, by applying the appropriate Risk Management practices for optimal financial performance of their operations and projects. In addition, Jale will be involved in representing SGS Industrial Services at national and international Risk Management conferences and fairs.

Jale’s educational background includes an MBA from Imperial College London, an M.Sc. in Financial Management from SOAS at the University of London, an M.Sc. in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations from the Institute of Social Sciences as well as a B.Sc. in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in Turkey.

In 1991, Jale Cairney began her career as economics lecturer at a university in Ankara, Turkey. She continued her academic career at several universities in Turkey and Kyrgyzstan until 1999. She went on to develop her experience in assisting economics and business schools to attain international standards of excellence, In 2002, Jale joined Vestas, initially working as project controller for onshore and offshore wind farm projects managed by Vestas in the UK and Ireland, and later as a QHSE manager at Vestas-Celtic Wind Technology in Scotland, where she managed the Quality Control department in Campbeltown.

Before joining SGS, Jale Cairney worked as capital projects analyst for an American company, Independent Project Analysis in the UK, where she analyzed capital investment projects for major oil and gas companies, focusing on the business case, front-end engineering design, scheduling, cost estimates, HSE risk assessments, procurement and contracting strategies as well as the project team structure.

In 2008, Jale joined SGS as Business Development Manager for Renewable Energy services in Camberley, England, where she was responsible for the development of SGS Renewable Energy services for onshore and offshore wind farms.

Two and half years later, Jale was appointed as new Vice President Global Risk Management for SGS Industrial Services in Camberley, England.
