APT Delivers Sea Fastening Systems for One of Biggest Offshore Wind Installation Vessels

Dubai-based vessel equipment and service provider, APT Global Marine and Offshore Engineering UAE, has fitted Jan De Nul’s installation vessel Voltaire with sea fastening systems under one of its latest contracts in the offshore wind industry, which now account for the majority of the revenue for the UAE company that previously did most of its work in the dredging industry.

APT installed Voltaire’s sea fastening systems earlier this year, before the mega jack-up started working on Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the UK, the world’s biggest offshore wind farm under construction.

The project was awarded to APT in July 2022 and executed in its facility in the RAK Maritime City UAE, where the company performed the construction and installation of the system that was designed by Jan De Nul Group specifically for the offshore wind installation vessel Voltaire.

The construction part of APT’s contract involved the manufacture of the five grillage systems and the Tip end/Root end supporting structure for the blade rack. As part of the installation works, the company installed the leg monitoring system for the four legs involving scaffolding on the entire 130-metre height.

The project construction took six months to complete and involved a team of highly skilled engineers and technicians, according to APT Global.

APT Global Marine and Offshore Engineering UAE proved to be a good partner throughout the whole process. They worked diligently to complete the project in line with our stringent expectations. Together, we managed to prepare the vessel for its upcoming project in a safe and controlled manner,” said Jan Van De Velde, Director New Building at Jan De Nul.

APT Global Marine and Offshore Engineering UAE said the completion of this project marked a significant milestone for the company as it continues to expand its capabilities and footprint in the marine and offshore wind industry.

Anil Abraham, CEO of APT Global Marine and Offshore Engineering UAE, said: “This project is a confirmation of our capabilities as a leading provider of solutions for the marine and offshore industry, in proactive and shared installation process policy with the client. We look forward to continuing to support Jan De Nul Group and other industry leaders with their offshore wind projects.”
