The newbuild will be a first-of-class Diverse Marine 27-metre CTV featuring a traditional catamaran hull form that has been CFD tested, the company said.

The vessel, to be named NR Predator, is being built as “hybrid ready” with an insulated generator space ready to receive generators and batteries.

Initially, this first-of-class vessel will be conventionally powered with a quad Volvo Penta IPS900 engine and drive system, all fitted with IMO Tier III SCR and Urea injection exhaust system to reduce the nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide emission levels.

Other features will include enhanced foredeck capacity and wheelhouse visibility, which should enable skippers, crews, and technicians to navigate challenging logistical assignments safely.

The two companies also agreed on an option for a second vessel.

“The maritime supply chain in the UK has had many challenges over the last few years, but it continues to demonstrate that the UK is leading the way with innovations that will define the way vessels are built and operated worldwide”, said Ben Colman, Director of Diverse Maritime.

This is not the first time that Diverse Marine and Walker Marine Design are working together. Last year, Diverse Marine delivered a CTV, designed by Walker Marine Design, to the UK-based Turner Iceni.
