The Seastar concession area is located approximately 40km off the Belgian coast while the Mermaid concession area lies approximately 50km offshore.

The contracts for both areas encompass the design, supply, offshore installation, testing and onshore/offshore commissioning of an offshore high voltage substation including a substructure, with water depths ranging between 32-38m at both sites.

The works may include future maintenance for a period to be further specified in the procurement documents, Otary said.

The tender will remain open until 28 November.

Earlier this week, Otary invited bids from EPCI contractors for submarine high voltage cables and connections between the wind farms’ substations and the Belgian modular offshore grid.

The Mermaid offshore wind farm will have a capacity between 232-266 MW, while the Seastar wind farm will have a capacity of approximately 246MW.

Following the recent re-negotiation of the strike prices for the two projects, the wind farms are expected to enter the construction phase between 2018 and 2020.
