Nuon will participate through activities such as an information market, events, and with a Nuon boat in the Canal Parade. The Canal Parade on 6 August is the highlight of the two-week event, dubbed EuroPride given the EU presidency of the Netherlands. The theme of the EuroPride 2016 is ‘Join us in freedom.’

“By joining the Canal Parade we show that we are an integral part of society. We listen to each other and to the people around us and make sure you can be yourself in the Netherlands and within Vattenfall,” says Martijn Hagens, Head of BA Customers & Solutions at Vattenfall and COO of Nuon.

Arjan te Wierik, Diversity & Inclusion Expert at Nuon, says participating in the Europride is just one of many ways to show that diversity is important to the company.

“By taking part in the parade, we emphasize the importance of diversity and inclusiveness, and show that we are against any form of discrimination,” te Wierik said.

The Amsterdam Gay Pride is the biggest annual event in Amsterdam and the boat parade, Canal Parade, has become the highlight. It is visited by nearly one million people on the day itself and watched by 2 million people over the internet and on TV at home and abroad.

Vattenfall has been an official sponsor of the Stockholm Pride Festival since 2014.

Nuon has a 50% stake in the 108MW Egmond aan Zee offshore wind farm, with the remaining 50% of the wind farm controlled by Shell Wind Energy.
