The Pinsent Masons’ multidisciplinary team, led by energy and planning partner, Gareth Phillips, has been instructed to assist DONG Energy in securing development consent, with construction expected to take place between 2022 and 2025.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to assist DONG Energy in delivering this nationally significant energy project,” Phillips said.
“Pressing ahead with the project, in our view, demonstrates DONG Energy’s commitment to the UK offshore wind industry. This instruction underlines our position as the UK’s market leader in consents work and the faith DONG Energy, a market leader in the offshore wind industry, has in our unparalleled knowledge and expertise, depth of resource, and commitment to renewable energy.”

Hornsea Project Three will be located to the east of the round three Hornsea Offshore Wind Zone, approximately 120 kilometres from the Yorkshire coast.

At 2.4GW, Hornsea Project Three has the potential to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm, powering over two million UK homes.

It would constitute a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, with an application for development consent under the Planning Act 2008 expected to be submitted in 2018.
