The German Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DGzRS) reported that its rescue boat Bernhard Gruben immediately responded to a mayday call sent out around 3:20 a.m. Meanwhile, the two crew members and 12 passengers on board the Beaumaris Bay, which was in waters near the island of Norderney at the time of the incident, fought the fire with all means available.

Arriving to the scene twelve minutes after receiving the distress call, the Bernhard Gruben saw the Beaumaris Bay crew had succeeded to extinguish the fire and accompanied the disabled vessel to Norddeich.

No one was injured in the incident.
