Germany: Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm Ready for Grid Connection

Germany Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm Ready for Grid Connection

Since the opening of the Riffgat offshore wind farm in August there was still work to be done on the connection of the wind turbines. Now the offshore wind farm is prepared for fast and smooth network connection to the grid.

As soon as there is a suitable weather window, a regular sonar survey will be conducted. With this survey the seabed and scour protection will be examined periodically at each individual wind turbine for any changes.

The scour protection consists of placing several layers of different sized stones around the monopile in order to prevent erosion of soil.

The first measurements will be carried out in the fall of 2013 and spring of 2014. After this, sonar surveys will be carried out every two years.
