Offshore Energy 2012: Exhibition & Conference Highlights of Day 2

The second, final day of Offshore Energy offered conference sessions ranging from the latest in renewable energy to frontier oil and gas exploration and production.

Menno Broers of IHC Tidal Energy presented IHC’s strategy for commercializing tidal energy. In the same session, Berend Jan Kleute of Bluerise presented research developments in another promising energy resource: ocean thermal energy.

Specialist offshore service providers including Seaway Heavy Lifting and James Fisher and Sons plc addressed the next challenge in offshore wind turbine foundations needs and the state of play in new technologies that are needed to access greater water depths and withstand larger wind and wave focus.

The 2nd Decommissioning Seminar co-located with Offshore Energy and organized in cooperation with IRO and Decom North Sea attracted a crowd once again. Presenting companies included Seaway Heavy Lifting and CNR International.

Between 09.30 and 16.30 hours the 400+ exhibitors at Offshore Energy showcasing their products and services enjoyed a steady stream of visitors from over 40 nationalities. At the Offshore Energy Career Pavilion various companies, such as Huisman Equipment, Atlas Services Group and Pharos Engineering were eager to meet new talent. Candidates with a maritime and offshore focus filled the pavilion and were told about the latest projects and job possibilities by exhibitors.

SPT Offshore and Volker Stevin Offshore paid attention to the innovative SIWT concept: Wind turbines are not assembled at sea, but onshore and the installation as a whole is realized onsite. Goldsponsor of the 2012 edition, DylanGroup, showcased their complete package of steel piping products and services. From strategic subsidiaries all over the world, Dylan distribute pipe, fittings, flanges, solid bar and valves to all kinds of industries worldwide.

As is the tradition, the day ended with complimentary drinks on the exhibition floor. Exhibitors, visitors, delegates, sponsors, partners and speakers socialized and toasted to new business.

The Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference came to an end. The sixth edition of Offshore Energy will take place on 15 and 16 October 2013, at Amsterdam RAI.
