Maritime Authorities Block Offshore Wind Development in China

Objections by the maritime authorities have blocked the development of the China’s first government-backed offshore wind projects, reports Recharge.

Due to the mentioned objections, the offshore wind project developers may need to change their plans.

Even though the National Energy Administration (NEA) awarded leases for these projects in 2010, none of them started the construction.

At a conference in Shanghai, the developers criticised the government for not succeeding in coordinating the offshore wind farm approval, and said that it is uncertain if the projects would go ahead.
