Bureau Veritas Obtains BSH Certification for Offshore Wind Turbines Testing (Germany)

The Bureau Veritas Industry Services GmbH has obtained a Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) certification for offshore wind turbines testing in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the North and Baltic Seas.

This is an important extension of our product portfolio. The BSH recognition, as well as many years of expertise in marine and industrial environments, has helped Bureau Veritas to perfectly position itself in order to provide customers with the necessary approvals and clearances in terms of offshore wind farms, “said Andreas Klatt, Managing Certification Services.

Apart from the tests designed according to the BSH Standards, Bureau Veritas also monitors, on behalf of its clients, the quality of wind farms already under construction – both onshore and at sea. Furthermore, technical inspections of the main components of wind turbines will also be carried out.

To succeed in gaining approval for offshore wind farms under SeeAnlV, appropriate consent made by the BSH is required. Therefore, the testing made by an independent project certifier/ a registered inspector such as Bureau Veritas is necessary.
