USA: Maine Waits for Congress’ Decision on PTC

Offshore wind industry in Maine is waiting for Congress’ decision on federal wind production tax credit (PTC), which is set to expire on December 31.

Maine Governor Paul LePage has urged the state to withdraw its renewable energy portfolio standard, which sets benchmarks for the amount of electricity produced by renewable sources and thus sets incentives for renewable energy production, the Boothbay Register news site informs.

The November election resulted in Democrats taking over the Maine’s House and Senate and a senator, Angus King, who is very supportive of wind industry.
