Located in the Malta Channel, at least 27 kilometres off the coast of Sicily, the Scicli wind farm will feature 50 15 MW wind turbines and two floating offshore substations.

The wind farm’s export cables will make landfall at a point located on the east coast of Marina di Ragusa.

The total area required under the 30-year concession is 266,690,669 square metres.

The application, submitted with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility Harbor Master’s Office – Coast Guard of Pozzallo, is currently open to public consultation.

This is not the only floating wind project planned to be installed in the Malta Channel, off the southern part of Sicily.

As reported by our sister site, Offshore Energy, a project with a capacity of over 900 MW is planned to be built some 25 kilometres off Pozzallo.

Np Pozzallo Wind has also applied for a maritime concession to build an 800 MW floating wind farm in the Malta Channel.
