Eco-Fish Safeguards Marine Mammals During Rampion OSS Jacket Installation

Eco-Fish Consultants have reported that they delivered Marine Mammal Observer (MMOs) and Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) services during the installation of a substation jacket at the Rampion offshore wind farm.

The main objective was to ensure that the installation was carried out with minimal disturbance to marine mammals, which could potentially be caused by underwater sound produced during piling operations.

Following Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) guidelines, the company provided two dedicated MMOs and one dedicated PAM operator to detect the presence, location, and behaviours of marine mammals within a mitigation zone around the source of noise.

Eco-Fish Consultants commissioned the MV Resolute, a converted trawler with a viewing platform for MMO works.
